Elimination of some anti-Semitic ministers from Patriarch Miron Christea’s new cabinet was noted today with reserved approval here. It is felt that the new cabinet is more democratic than the old.
Among the anti-Semites dropped is Prof. Alexander Vaida-Voevod, one-time Premier, who in the transition cabinet was Minister Without Portfolio and in charge of all questions pertaining to minorities.
Inclusion of the National Peasant leader Prof. Mihail Ralea, who is noted for his tolerant views, as Minister of Labor, and of Militza Constantinescu, formerly Governor of the Rumanian National Bank, as Minister of Industry supports the belief that the cabinet will follow a more moderate policy and refrain from drastic measures. Armand Calinescu, who has been keeping extremists in check, remains as Minister of Interior.
