A new form of anti-Semitic provocation has come to the attention of the Austrian police, it was learned here today when the State Prosecutor was given jurisdiction of a case involving a fictitious “want ad” intended to present Jews in an unfavorable light.
Under police questioning, Dr. A. Vogler, a press officer for the People’s Party in Lower Austria, admitted that he placed an ad which offered a “pleasant job” with a “Jewish firm.” The pleasant job involved chauffering and car maintenance of a “deluxe American car” as well as office boy and gardening work for the same firm, with days off not permitted on the week-end and vacation offered only during the winter months. Dr. Vogler asserted that he had placed the advertisement in retaliation for an “anti-Christian” ad which appeared in the same Vienna newspaper a week earlier.
