Anti-Semitic attacks are becoming “virulent” again in Germany. “Right-wing extremism now seems to have taken on a new quality. Things that used to happen only in secret are now happening in open daylight. Publicly, shamelessly, provocatively,” said Paul Spiegel, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany. Spiegel made the remarks Tuesday during an address to the annual conference of Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder’s Social Democratic Party.
