In a reaction to the boycott of Mexico by American and Canadian Jewish tourists, one Mexican daily has printed an obvious anti-Semitic cartoon aimed at the tourists. A cartoonist, Helioflores, in the newspaper El Universal, drew a Jewish figure in the style reminiscent of Julius Steicher’s Stuermer during the Nazi period. The figure was shown painting on a wall the word “Vaca-Sionismo,” an apparent pun on the words vacation and Zionism. The “S” was in the shape of the symbol for the American dollar.
