Anti-Semitic disturbances, led by National Democratic students, broke out yesterday at the University of Warsaw in connection with the proposal to limit the autonomy of the Universities.

A Jewish student was severely beaten up during the disturbances.

The disturbances started first as clashes between the pro-government students, who support the measure, and the National Democrats, members of the opposition party. Later they developed into an attack upon the Jews who suffered most heavily.

A Professor Tadeusz Czarnezki was also attacked and injured, because he favors the limitation of the University autonomy.

Police were permitted to enter the University campus and dispersed the rioters.

The National Democrats have been agitating against the Jews ever since the measure to limit the autonomy of the universities was first projected early last month.

The Jews were charged with being responsible for this projected action on the part of the government which followed the serious anti-Semitic riots throughout Poland.
