Anti-Semitic forces are consolidating their position in Latin America, and it is necessary to combat them and neutralize their influence by publicly exposing their actions, Dr. Moises Goldman, president of the World Jewish Congress Latin American Conference, declared at a session of the parley today. Dr. Goldman is also president of the Daia, central representative body of Argentine Jews.
Dr. Nahum Goldmann, member of the Jewish Agency executive, who was chairman of the session, declared that the problem of the Jews of Europe will not be solved by relief alone. He listed among the political actions necessary to aid the European Jewish survivors the World Jewish Congress’ activities in behalf of restitution of property and reparations payments.
The assertion that part of the Jews of Europe will remain there for a number of years in the future despite an increase in anti-Semitism which is expected to follow the withdrawal of Soviet occupation troops from Hungary and Rumania, was made here by Dr. Nahum Goldmann at a press conference.
Dr. Goldmann, who recently arrived from Palestine to attend the World Jewish Congress Latin American Conference, which opened yesterday, declared that the Jews of Palestine are now more optimistic concerning the results of the inquiry of the U.N. Palestine committee than they were several months ago. He added that the "chapter of Anglo-Jewish cooperation" was ended.
