Gerald L. K. Smith’s anti-Semitic “Christian Nationalist Crusade” received more funds for political activities this year than “Americans for Democratic Action,” a liberal group.
The publication “Congressional Quarterly” revealed that the Smith group received $139,374 between January I and August 31, 1958, while ADA received only $117,820 in the same period. The statements of the organizations, required under the Federal Corrupt Practices Act, were filed with the clerk of the House of Representatives. Both groups engage in lobbying activities.
