An attempt to create a movement against Jewish professors and teachers in Germany was made by an anti-Semitic organization known as the Federation for German Nationality.
The Federation issued a manifesto in which it states that “the Lessing affair is not an individual case, but is the beginning of a movement in the whole of Germany. The German people ought to refuse to be taught by persons of alien blood, particularly Jewish, who are unable to instill the German spirit.” The manifesto appeals to German students in other universities to strike in sympathy with the anti-Semitic students of the Han-over Technical College who declared a strike against the Jewish professor, Theodor Lessing.
The students at the universities of Bonn, Leipzig, Hamburg and Heidelburg have refused to call a sympathy strike.
