A JUNK DEALER’S ADVERTISEMENT IN THE NEW CLASSIFIED TELEPHONE DIRECTORY IMPLYING A SLUR AGAINST JEWISH DEALERS HAS RESULTED IN A LAW SUIT AGAINST THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY AND THE FIRM WHICH SUBMITTED THE AD.

THE AD, PRINTED IN THE DECEMBER EDITION, WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN DELIVERED TO SUBSCRIBERS, SAYS: “SECONDARY RAW MATERIAL COMPANY-GENTILE-CALL US-THERE’S A DIFFERENCE.”

THE WOLFF PIPE AND IRON COMPANY FILED SUIT TO HALT THE TELEPHONE SERVICE OF THE SECONDARY RAW MATERIAL COMPANY, CONTENDING THE AD INJURED JEWISH JUNK DEALERS, WAS UN-AMERICAN AND TENDED TOWARD PREJUDICE.

TELEPHONE COMPANY OFFICIALS PROMISED THAT THE AD WOULD NOT BE PUBLISHED IN FOLLOWING ISSUES OF THE DIRECTORY.
