About 100 students, led by neo-fascist agitators, staged anti-Semitic demonstrations Saturday in Rome’s Jewish quarter. The police arrested several students.
The riot started when a Communist party truck campaigning for the November elections passed by the Jewish section. The students shouted insults against the Communists and the Jews. Fist fights broke out between the students and several Jewish shopkeepers. Some persons were injured when police in jeeps broke up the student groups.
