Anti-semitic Tension Eases in Rumania As Press Tones Down Attacks

Moderating of the intense anti-Semitic atmosphere of recent days was noticeable tonight after the Government’s appeals for calm. The Jew-baiting press toned down its anti-Jewish articles.

(The Government issued orders to the press on Sunday to cease attacks on “Hungarians, Bulgarians and Jews.”)

The Minister of Interior summoned Dr. William Filderman, president of the Union of Rumanian Jews, and requested him to reassure the Jewish population.
