Fourteen members of the dental clinic staff of St. Luke’s Hospital, an Episcopal institution, said in a statement today that they were resigning as a result of the resignation of Dr. Jerome M. Schweitzer, director of the clinic since 1938, which they attributed to anti-Semitic influences.
Dr. Claude W. Munger, superintendent of the hospital, denied to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that anti-Semitism was involved. He said that Dr. Schweitzer had resigned voluntarily. He admitted that a reorganization plan was contemplated which would place the dental clinic under the direction of a doctor of medicine. Dr. Schweitzer could not be reached for comment.
