Anti-Semitic attitudes of Americans in Germany are hindering the development of democracy in that country, Dr. Sterling W. Brown, newly-appointed general director of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, reported here yesterday following his return from Germany where he served as religious coordinator with A.M.G. He emphasized that the Germans were quick to note instances of anti-Semitism not only among the occupation authorities in Germany, but also in the United States.
The World Jewish Congress today announced that it protested to the Chief of Civil Affairs Division of the War Department against the cancellation of housing and other priorities for “victims of Nazi persecution residing in Germany–both Jews and non-Jews alike.”
