The Constitutional Commission of the Bavarian Diet has considered the bill proposed by the Voelkische Partei concerning the exclusion of Jews from state offices, universities and possession of lands; the expulsion of foreign Jews and the confiscation of their property.
The Minister of Religions, Herr Hatt, declared that this bill would violate the principles of the Constitution of Germany. He further stated that out of 568 professors in the Bavarian colleges only 29 were Jews.
The Commission then rejected the bill, but at the same time requested the Government to take steps not to permit those who belonged to the Jewish race to change their Jewish names to German names, and to furnish statistics as to the number of Jews employed in the state service of Bavaria.
