A bill will be introduced in the House of Lords, amending the present humane slaughter in such a manner as to outlaw Jewish ritual slaughter practices, it was announced here this weekend by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Humane Slaughter Association.
Officials of the two organizations, who have been pressing for such legislation for some time, stated that “shechita is not only cruel, it also makes nonsense of the law, which is designed to protect animals.”
