Archbishop Egidio Vagnozzi, Apostolic Delegate to the United States, was a principal participant in a community-wide dinner in behalf of Israel Bonds here. Archbishop Vagnozzi heads the Vatican delegation in Washington.
In the course of his address at the dinner, Archbishop Vagnozzi recalled the suffering of the Jews of Europe before and during World War II, terming the events of that period “a shame on all humanity.” He told the gathering” “You are gathered today in order to see that this shame will not happen to humanity again.” He stressed that close and friendly relations must exist between Christians and Jews.
