The district court here, consisting of two British and one Arab judge, today listened to an appeal to mitigate the sentences against Jemal Husseini and two other members of the Arab Executive who were convicted of participating in the Jerusalem riots on Oct. 17, thereby violating the seditious ordinances act.
Acting on the appeal, the court reduced the sentence of Husseini and Edmund Roche, Christian Arab, requiring 100 pounds security deposit, which is to be held for a year. A month’s imprisonment, the original penalty, was rescinded.
Muza Faar, the third member of the Arab Executive, whose original sentence was a deposit of 200 pounds for a year as security, was acquitted.
