An appeal for the contribution of Yiddish. Hebrew, German and Polish books for the benefit of immigrants who are detained at the hospital on Ellis Island is made by Rabbi Jacob Bosniak Jewish chaplain of the U.S. Marine Hospital there.
Hundreds of the immigrants are held for days and weeks in the detention rooms of the hospitals and at present have nothing to engage their minds except worry over the final verdict whether they will be permitted to land or be deported.
Books may be sent in care of the Hias, 435 Lafayette Str. or to Rabbi Bosniak, 490 Ocean Parkway, Brooklyn, N.Y.
