Appeals for the support of the United Jewish Appeal will be heard in synagogues and temples throughout the country tomorrow and Saturday as Jewry celebrates the Shevuoth holidays. A proclamation to be read by rabbis to their congregations during holiday sermons declares:
Inasmuch as Israel, which has offered itself as a refuge for all homeless Jews who come unto its shores, now finds that the greatest homecoming is beyond its resources to sustain alone; and because the tragic possibility now exists that the immigration of hundreds of thousands of our suffering brothers and sisters in various lands to Israel may be endangered, unless we American Jews give of our strength and treasure; be it resolved that we give our wholehearted cooperation to the campaign of the United Jewish Appeal.”
