Arab and Jewish Workers Clash at Petach Ttkvah

A row between Arab and Jewish laborers occurred in Petach Tikvah Friday when Jewish pickets tried to prevent Arabs from working in the Jewish orange groves.

The Petach Tikvah police intervened, arresting 20 persons. Several workingmen were injured in the clash.

The annual meeting of the New York Federation of Jewish Women’s Organizations will be held on Wednesday. In addition to the reports of committees and election of officers, the meeting will be addressed by Mrs. Henry Bodenheimer, Mrs. Isaac Kubie, Mrs. Irving Crane and Mrs. Rebecca Seligman. There will be a symposium on religion participated in by Dr. Moses H. Hyamaon of Orach Chaim Synagogue and Mrs. Max L. Levenson, honorary president of the federation.

Plans will be discussed for the annual convention of the federation which will be held at the Hotel Astor on January 13th.

Rabbi David B. Alpert of Temple Beth-El. Glens Falls, N Y. conducts a class in Bible regularly each Sunday evening at the Christ Methodist Church of which Dr. Charles Otis Judkins is the minister.

Abraham Perles, 17 years old, student at the Evader Child’s High School, who has been blind since babyhood, received an ovation when he received a prize for an essay at a ceremony in the Chamber of Commerce Building. The subject of the essay submitted was “Cooperation : the Basis of Progress.”

A union between the Kodimo Synagogue and the Beth El Congregation, Springfield, Mass., in the building of a $60,000 free Hebrew school and Jewish community house is now under way. Harry H. Ehrlich and James R. Neurosis are the chairmen of the committee.
