Bells of some Christian communities in Jordan-held Old Jerusalem will toll tomorrow to express “deep concern” over the Ecumenical Council draft declaration repudiating the ancient charge of Jewish responsibility for the crucifixion of Jesus, it was reported here today.
The Mayor of Old Jerusalem told reporters that the decision to use that form of protest was made by Christian leaders in those communities, when he visited them Monday to discuss the draft declaration. He said he had also sent a message of protest to Pope Paul VI.
