The sheikhs of Kalkilia, a large Arab town near Patach-Tikvah, held a meeting recently and decided to oppose the holding of any demonstration by Arabs and to refrain from participating, says a report in Al Jamea Al Arabea, which derides the sheikhs for adopting the moderate view. “They are trying to dampen the ardor of the people,” the paper proclaims.
