The Arab captain of an Egyptian ship today was sentenced to imprisonment for five months and to pay a fine of sixty pounds ($300) for attempting to smuggle a shipload of immigrants from Port Said into Palestine. Each member of his crew was sentenced to two months imprisonment.
The prospective Jewish immigrants, none of whom had permits to enter the country, were deported to Egypt. The ship was libelled and is being held until the captain be served his term of imprisonment.
