An Israeli was killed early this morning by Arab infiltrators, apparently from Jordan, while he was on duty as a night watchman in the settlement of Ramat Rachel, on the outskirts of Jerusalem. He was making his rounds accompanied by another watchman. When they switched on an electric light in a cowshed, ore shot was fired, killing one of the men instantly.
United Nations observers, to whom Israel complained at once, found tracks ieading to the nearby Jordanian border. The UN observers also found some empty Sten gun cartridges near the spot where the Israeli was killed.
