Arab intelligence has improved greatly since the Yom Kippur War and now constitutes a serious threat to Israel, according to Gen. Shlomo Gazit, Israel’s chief of intelligence. According to Gazit, the Arabs received up-to-date intelligence on Israeli military moves through captured documents and prisoners of war in October 1973. He said, however, that since then a gap has developed between what the Arabs learned and the real situation. He said he did not believe that Israeli intelligence services would repeat the mistakes of the Yom Kippur War.
