Before the formalities to transfer the guardianship of the ten year old daughter of Aaron Natah, a Jewish blacksmith of Acre from the father to her older brother, the marriage of the child to a fourteen year old Moslem Arab was consummated at Acre yesterday.
Aaron Natah, who is ninety years old, and mentally unbalanced, arranged with the Moslem storekeeper, Assadi, to sell his daughter for £30 in accordance with the custom prevailing among Arabs, as a bride for the storekeeper’s fourteen year old son.
The girl’s brother sought to prevent the marriage by being appointed guardian of his sister. Before the formalities were completed, however, the marriage took place in the presence of Aaron Natah and the parents of the boy. The guardianship was ordered transferred by the Palestine Chief Rabbinate.
