M. Michel Beiruti, member of the former Palestine Advisory Council, and Vice-President of the last Palestine Arab Congress, has published in the important Egyptian daily, “Mokattam”, an appeal to the Jews.
Palestine, he writes must be a spiritual home for the Jews, but not a national-political home, which would mean that the Jewish minority in Palestine would rule over the Arab majority. M. Beiruti declares there is a stream of emigration now away from Palestine, which means that millions are being wasted in bringing Jews to Palestine who will not stay. The best course, in his opinion, both for Palestine and the Jews, would be to revert to the conditions prior to 1914.
