Arab League Chief Summons Meeting, Sees Israel Influx As ‘greatest Peril’

The Arab League Secretariat in Cairo has prepared a memorandum to all Arab governments protesting against the Israel Government’s plans Are absorption of mass immigration from Eastern Europe, it became known here today.

In the memorandum, League Secretary General Abdel Khalek Hassouna described the new immigration to Israel as “the greatest peril that threatens the Arabs.” Hassouna calls upon League members to convene in Cairo at the Foreign Ministers’ level to discuss this problem.

Sunday’s Arab press, received here today, terms the new influx into Israel as the work of a new triple, unholy alliance between imperialism, local Communism and Zionism.” Arab newspapers claim that the present Israeli frontiers cannot contain another 3, 000, 000 immigrants which they say, are about to “flood” Israel. One newspaper says “the Jewish State would use its new military and economic potential to usurp more Arab territory.”
