The Arab League Political Committee yesterday began consideration of the United Nations Secretary General’s renewed plea to Jordan to meet with Israel in direct talks provided for in the Israel-Jordan armistice agreement, it was reported here today from Cairo.
The dispatch added that it is expected that the League unit would again reject the UN call for a meeting, as it had done a week ago when it met in Beirut. The committee split into two groups yesterday, with one devoting its study to the Palestine question, and the other considering the Anglo-Egyptian dispute.
Meanwhile, Dr. Fadhil Jamali, Iraqi Premier, who earlier in the week-end had suggested the unification of the major ministries of all the Arab League states, yesterday admitted that he had no detailed plan for achieving such unification. The Cairo dispatch said that Dr. Jamali felt the plan could be put into effect in the beginning by at least two states.
