Members of an American Christian Palestine Committee study group now visiting Israel were not permitted to visit the Old City of Jerusalem, despite strong protestations to the United Nations, the New York headquarters of the Committee reported today on the basis of a cable received from its executive secretary, Rev. Karl Baehr, a member of the study group.
Now under the control of Arab Legion forces, the Old City sector contains any Christian shrines and Holy Places. The cable revealed that members of the group-including clergymen, educators and writers–have visited various Christian education-al institutions, orphanages and monasteries in the Jewish state.
