A warning was sounded today by the national commander of the Jewish War Veterans that major transactions are pending in Washington, pertaining to provision of ultra-modern American arms to Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Commander Ralph Plofsky said his organization had “reliable information that Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Muttaq, the Chief of Staff of the Saudi Arabian Air Force, is in the United States with the authorization of his government to negotiate for purchase of supersonic jet sighter-bombers.
He also charged that Jordan has applied for $70, 000, 000 worth of military aircraft and late-model tanks. This, he said, was “an obvious consequence of the recent decision of the Arab summit conference, held in Egypt, to create a beefed-spunified Arab military threat to Israel.” He called upon the United States Government to deny arms to nations which refuse to make peace with Israel.
