Arab Paper Says Palestine Regime Plans to Fix Minority Status for Jews

The ARABIC DAILY, ADIFAA, FEATURED TODAY A REPORT QUOTING “OFFICIAL CIRCLES” THAT THE PALESTINE GOVERNMENT WAS SEEKING MODIFICATION OF THE MANDATE AND ELIMINATION OF THE BALFOUR DECLARATION.

THE GOVERNMENT WILL SEEK TO FIX THE JEWISH POPULATION AS A PERMANENT MINORITY NOT EXCEEDING 35 TO 40 PER CENT OF THE POPULATION, THE ARABIC PAPER SAID, WITH CONSEQUENT REVISION OF IMMIGRATION AND LAND SALES REGULATIONS.

THE PAPER SAID THE PLAN PROVIDED FOR SUFFICIENT INCOME TO DEFEND BRITISH IMPERIAL INTERESTS AND STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS IN THE NEAR EAST. IT ADDED THAT SIR ARTHUR GRENFELL WAUCHOPE, BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER, WHO IS NOW IN ENGLAND, WAS SEEKING TO SECURE INCLUSION OF THIS PLAN IN THE TERMS OF REFERENCE OF THE NEW COMMISSION WHICH BRITAIN WILL SEND TO PALESTINE.

AN UNIDENTIFIED ARAB WAS KILLED BY AN ARAB SPECIAL POLICEMAN NEAR RAMALLAH WHEN HE REFUSED TO HALT FOR IDENTIFICATION.

THE DEPOSED GRAND MUFTI, HAJ AMIN EL HUSSEINI, DELIVERED A SERMON DURING MOSLEM SABBATH SERVICES IN THE MOSQUE OF OMAR, WHERE HE HAS TAKEN REFUGE.

IT WILL CONTINUE ITS WORK AS USUAL, HE SAID. IT WAS LEARNED, HOWEVER, THE COUNCIL WAS NOT MEETING BECAUSE ARAB MEMBERS REFUSED TO ATTEND WITH VICE-MAYOR DANIEL AUSTER, A JEW, PRESIDING.
