“The mountain was in labor; it gave birth to a mouse.”

Thus does the Arab press today deride establishment of a legislative council as outlined in the proclamation yesterday by the High Commissioner for Palestine, Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope.

Three of the country’s leading Arab newspapers, Alliwa, El Islamia and Adifaa sharply criticized the proposed set-up of the council. Another Moslem paper, Mokhatam, of Egypt, also criticized the proposals contained in the High Commissioner’s proclamation. All Call upon the Arab leaders not to hurry their reply to the High Commissioner.
