Arab residents of the occupied territories comprise about five percent of Israel’s work force according to a study released by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The study found that the average number of Arab workers on jobs in Israel on any given day between April 1-June 30 was 60,000, which represents 28 percent of the total work force in the occupied areas. It also found that 70 percent of the Arabs who work in Israel are married, they are generally younger than Arabs who work within the occupied territories and some 40 percent of them are employed in the construction trades. Another 25 percent is employed by industry and 15 percent in agriculture. The remainder are employed in various personal service jobs.
