Threats against the Jews by Arabs of Tunis. a daily occurrence, culminated in an Arab riot in the Jewish quarter, on Monday, when eleven Jews were wounded, according to information reaching here today.

Among the injured is Rabbi Simon Cohen. One of the injured, Jacob Anery, is in a grave condition.

The riots were the development of a quarrel between an Arab and a Jewish merchant.

The Arab called to his assistance a number of Moslems, who invaded the shop, adopted a threatening attitude, and when police were summoned, overpowered them as well.

The Jewish merchant had the police arrest him in order to secure protection from the Arabs. This step did not succeed in quelling the incitement.

The Arab crowds swelled, and, augmented by thousands of people, marched on the Jewish quarter, attacked Jewish pedestrians and invaded the synagogue there. Rabbi Cohen was wounded in the synagogue.

The authorities were compelled to ask military aid for dispersing the crowds.

Peace was restored with the aid of the military who continue to patrol the streets.

Members of the Maccabi sports organization and the Brith Trumpeldor are in readiness to defend their coreligionists should the attacks be resumed.
