An Indian airliner which had been expected to land at Lydia International Airport with 25 Jewish immigrants from Hong Kong, was diverted a few minutes before its scheduled landing to the airport at Nicosia, Cyprus.
The operators of the line took this action, it was learned, because of Arab threats that the line would be denied landing privileges at Arab airports if it used the Israel field. The immigrants were later brought on to Israel on another plane.
