Members of minority groups in Israel will be permitted to enter any branch of the armed services, not just units composed of members of minority groups, it was revealed here today. This was the basis of an agreement reached earlier this week between the office of the Chief of Staff of the Israel Army of Defense and representatives of the Druze community.
Druze soldiers conscripted or Christian Arabs who volunteer for service may choose any arm and be accepted without discrimination. The only requirement is that candidates meet the same tests for entrance to a particular branch given Jewish enlistees or draftees.
