The Palestine Arabs today appealed to President Roosevelt to resist “Jewish efforts to force the United States to intervene against the Arabs.”
The Grand Mufti, Ha j Amin el Husseini, in his capacity as president of the Arab Supreme Committee, cabled President Roosevelt expressing anxiety over what he called attempts by American Jews to interfere with the Arabs’ “rightful demands to live freely in their own country.”
The message was sent as Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, British High Commissioner for Palestine, and Roy G.B. Spicer, Inspector-General of Palestine Police and Prisons, left for London, where the Royal Commission is expected to issue its report shortly seeking a settlement of Arab-Jewish difficulties.
Before leaving for London the High Commissioner received the Grand Mufti in a lengthy interview.
