Palestine Arab leaders today claimed that they received information from their representatives in London that several members of the British Cabinet are inclined to invite the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem to participate in the round-table discussions on Palestine which are to open in London next month.
The demand that the ex-Mufti, who is now exile in Egypt, be permitted to attend the London conference as head of the Palestine Arab group was formally presented today by a delegation of the Arab Higher Committee to Gen. Sir Alan Cunningham, Palestine High Commissioner, as one of the major conditions for the participation of the Palestine Arabs in the conference. Other major conditions included:
1. The Palestine Mandate and the Balfour Declaration should not serve as bases for the London talks.
2. Jewish representatives should not be seated at the parley during Arab-British discussions.
(A Foreign Office spokesman in London told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today that he has no knowledge of the report that some members of the Cabinet are inclined to invite the ex-Mufti to the round-table talks.)
