A conference of Arab parties called to decide composition of a delegation which will visit London for talks with J. H. Thomas, Colonial Secretary, on the proposed legislative council, broke up today without accomplishing its purpose. Another parley was called for Saturday.
It was reported that Haj Amin el Husseini, Mufti of Jerusalem, had decided not to serve as one of the six delegates after his inclusion in the deputation had been opposed by Ragheb Bey Nashashibi, former Mayor of Jerusalem, Auni Abdul Hadi, a leader of the movement for non-cooperation with Great Britain, declined to accompany the delegation.
The invitation to the Arabs was extended by High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope for Mr. Thomas. The London conference is scheduled for early May and no steps will be taken until then, the Colonial Secretary has announced, to institute the council.
Meanwhile, the Mufti’s party decided to consider participating in the council project if the Government amends its proposals.
