Failure of the Nazis to undermine Arab loyalty to the Allied Powers is indicated in newspapers reaching Paris today from all parts of the Arab-speaking world.

The Beirut newspapers Nahar declares, for example: “We are not foolish enough to believe in German intrigues. We know well that Germany not only does not like us, but has relegated us to the 16th place among human races.” The Cairo newspaper Al Wafd el Misri states: “Germany alone is responsible for the war of 1914 and that of 1939. The democracies, on the other hand, exerted every effort to avoid war.”

Warning against “German insincerity, which violates signatures and tears up treaties,” is sounded for the benefit of the Soviet Union in the Baghdad newspaper Djem-Houriat. A similar warning to Premier Mussolini is voiced in Le Jour of Beirut, which declares that “Italy’s true enemy is Germany.”
