Labor Minister Joseph Almogi reported today that 18,000 Arabs from the occupied territories are currently working in Israel. He said 13,000 came from the Samaria and Judaea regions (West Bank) and the rest were from the Gaza Strip. All were employed through local labor exchanges set up in the occupied territories.
The Arab work force in Israel rose by 3,000 recently. They are employed mainly in harvesting and port work and in citrus packing houses. More hands will be needed shortly as the citrus picking and export season reaches its peak.
