Arabs in America Form an Independence Party

Arab residents in America who come from Palestine, Syria and the Lebanon, have founded a party named “The Party of Freedom of the Arab Countries,” according to the Arab paper, “Yarmuk.” The party intends to work for the independence of Palestine, Syria and the Labanon, and their constitutions as free Republics, the paper states.

More than $30,000 was expended by the Oakland, Col. Jewish Federation during the past ten months, a report issued by Harry J. Sapper shows.

Of this $17.000 was been spent for relief work in Oakland, $7,000 for recreation and culture; $1,000 to aid tubercular patients.

The Free Loan Department, of the Oakland Jewish Federation made close to 100 loans this year, approximating $8,000. The fund contributes toward the support of 55 agencies.

The conerstone of the new club house for the Jewish Alliance, Los Angeles, Cal., was laid last Sunday. George Massbacher president of the Federation of Jewish Welfare Organizations, presided. Rabbi Edgar F. A. and M. A. Hamburger and their sisters Miss Evelyn Hamburger, Mrs. P. Nathan and Mrs. Ralph Marx presented the structure to the Alliance as a memorial to Asher and Hannah Hamburger, their parents, Los Angeles pioneers. The club house will have accommodations for fifty girls.
