A world conference of the Mizrachi Organization, attended by 80 delegates from ten countries, issued a manifesto last night declaring that the “White Paper has neither legal nor moral foundations” and is not binding on any Jew, inside or outside of Palestine. Everything possible will be done to resist the provisions of the White Paper and annul it, the manifesto continued. Jewish immigrants will be brought into Palestine by any and all means, legally or illegally. “We will defend our rights to immigration and settlement and liberty, as well as stand up for our rights to self- defense and security, for which no sacrifices will be too dear,” the manifesto added.
Prior to the opening of the conference, the corner-stone was laid for a world Mizrachi center to be named after Rabbi Meir Berlin, president of the organization. It will cost $150,000 and house the world headquarters, a liberary, archives and other Mizrachi functions. Rabbi Berlin and Chief Rabbi Herzog were the chief speakers at the conference.
