Two Arabs suspected of murdering Hebrew University Professor Menahem Stern three years ago re-enacted their alleged crime for police Monday in the western Jerusalem park where it occurred on a June morning nearly three years ago.
Stern, one of Israel’s most distinguished academicians, was fatally stabbed while walking from his home in the Rehavia neighborhood of the city to the National Library on the Hebrew University’s Givat Ram campus on June 22, 1989.
He was waylaid in the Valley of the Cross park. One of the suspects pointed out the exact spot where the assassins waited for their victim, the police said Monday.
The same suspects are accused of murdering electronics technician Eli Amsalem a month later in the Nahlaot section of downtown Jerusalem.
