Shimshon Arad, former Israel Consul in New York, was been appointed head of the American Division of the Foreign Ministry, it was announced here today. Mr. Arad was also a member of the Israel delegation to the United Nations.
Mr. Arad, who spent several years in New York, is well known to leaders of Jewish organizations in the United States. He constantly maintained contact with the national Jewish groups in America and addressed them on numerous occasions. His appointment to the post of chief of the American Division was due to the fact that he is extremely well informed on both general and Jewish affairs in the United States.
