Dr. Miguel Dario Miranday Gomez, Catholic Archbishop of Mexico, today pledged to advocate a “pro-Jewish” position in the forthcoming session of the Ecumenical Council, to be opened at the Vatican on September 14.
The prelate also said he would do everything he could to help prevent the spread of anti-Semitic literature in this country. He made these promises after a very cordial conference, lasting an hour, with a delegation representing the Central Committee of Mexican Jewish Organizations. Attending the conference were Gregorio Shapiro, president of the committee; I. Z. Berebichez, secretary; Dr. S. Bibring and Leon Krachmalnik.
