The greater part of the archives of the Jewish museum in Vilna were discovered this week buried in one of the streets of Shavli, near Kaunas, it was reported here today.
Among the documents unearthed are manuscripts of Jewish writers and opera scores, as well as a collection of posters announcing plays produced in Jewish theatres all over the world for the last thirty years. Other material from the archives were discovered in one of the paper factories in Shavli.
