One of the Knesset’s corpulent members said that it would be a good thing if all Knesset members were to reduce their calorie intake. Independent MK Shalom Cohen wrote a letter to Knesset Speaker Israel Yeshayahu and told him that the lawmakers have gotten into a bad habit by munching endlessly on sandwiches, cakes and biscuits during committee meetings. In view of their normally sedentary life, Cohen advised Yeshayahu to call the Knesseters attention to the dangers they were running by continuing this habit. Finally, the House Speaker was asked by Cohen to appeal to all committees to serve drinks and fresh fruit only.
