Gen. Alejandro Augustin Lanusse, President of Argentina, in a New Year’s message to the DAIA, the central body of Argentine Jewry, expressed his personal greetings and the gratitude of his government and Argentina’s people to the Jewish community for its spiritual, material and cultural contributions to Argentina for more than 100 years. In his message, the President added: “I take this opportunity to stress that the government relies on the valuable participation of this important section of our citizenry for each implementation of intentions for great national accord in order to consolidate authentic rule of institutions, economic expansion and social plenitude for the nation.”
